Installation & Requirements

Install the Helper for your presentation platform and connect it to NextNote Display.

System Requirements

PowerPoint	Microsoft 365 (subscription) on Mac or Windows
Google Slides	Google Chrome and a Google account with access to the presentation
Network	All machines on the same local network. For reliability always use a wired connection. mDNS/DNS-SD discovery must not be blocked.

NextNote uses one fixed application port for each presentation platform.

Windows LiveView hardware requirements

LiveView uses hardware-accelerated H.264 video where possible. On Windows, use a current manufacturer graphics driver and compatible Intel, NVIDIA, or AMD graphics hardware.

Downloading a Helper

Download the PowerPoint or Google Slides Helper included with your license. Both Helpers are available for macOS and Windows.

macOS

Download the DMG file, open it, and drag the Helper app to the Applications folder.

Windows

Download the setup file and run it to install the selected Helper.

Installing the PowerPoint Add-In

Before you begin: Make sure PowerPoint is fully closed before installing the add-in. You will be prompted to close PowerPoint if it is open during installation.

Close PowerPoint

Ensure PowerPoint is fully closed before proceeding.

Launch NextNote Helper

When NextNote Helper is first opened it will check to see if the Add-In is installed and up to date. If it can't be detected you will be prompted to install it. On Mac you may be prompted for your administrator password. On Windows the installation is automatic.

Restart PowerPoint

Launch PowerPoint. You will see the NextNote tab in the ribbon. If prompted to enable macros, click Enable.

macOS will ask for permission when a feature first needs it. NextNote will guide you to the correct Privacy & Security setting.

Setting Up the Google Slides Helper

Launch NextNote for Google Slides, sign in to Google, then add a presentation using its Google Slides link or .gslides file. Google access is read-only.

Uninstalling

To remove the PowerPoint Add-In, open the PowerPoint Helper and select Uninstall Add-In with PowerPoint closed. To remove either Helper, delete it from the Applications folder on Mac or uninstall it from Installed Apps on Windows.
